Standing with Christian communities in Pakistan
In a country where Christians often face challenges, the National Bishops Council of Pakistan speaks up for religious freedom, social justice and equal rights, ensuring that the community is heard. The Council works calmly, lawfully and as one body.

A united voice for 100+ churches
A single church in a small town is rarely heard. More than 100+ churches speaking through their Bishops are heard. The Council represents its member churches before local and national authorities, raises matters of religious freedom, education and social justice, and provides a platform for Christian communities to raise their concerns.
Advocacy is one of the four pillars of our mission. It is carried out by the Bishops in their districts, coordinated by the Council office in Lahore, and always in the name of the whole body.
How the Council advocates
Standing with Christian communities
When a community faces difficulty, the Bishops go to it: praying with families, listening, recording what has happened, and making sure the community is not forgotten.
Representing churches before the authorities
Land and building matters, school registration, questions of safety and worship: the Council writes, visits and represents so that member churches receive a fair hearing.
Supporting families after attacks
There have been painful days for the churches of Pakistan, including the attacks on churches and Christian homes in Jaranwala in August 2023. In such times the Council stands with the affected families and works with the authorities and other Christian bodies so that those who suffered are helped and heard.
Calmly, lawfully, together
- Calmly: a clear account of the facts and a respectful request usually help a family more than anger
- Lawfully: within the Constitution and laws of Pakistan, and encouraging member churches to do the same
- Together: member churches report to their district Bishop, and the Council acts as one body
- With others: in cooperation with other Christian leaders in Pakistan, so that the community speaks with one voice
